I’m Phillip Büchler, and this is my personal blog about enterprise IT. I’ve spent more than 15 years in it, mostly in large Swiss enterprises, from lightly regulated to heavily regulated ones, and today on the provider side.
I write about Microsoft security, the modern workplace, endpoint management, and the leadership and strategy questions that come with all of it. Mostly for people who run IT in Swiss organisations, including the regulated ones.
What this blog is#
A personal playground for opinions and observations. Some posts are well researched, some are me thinking out loud, and a few are mainly an excuse for a footnote. I try to say which is which.
When something factual matters, I link the source. When I’m not sure, I say so. If you find a mistake, please tell me. I’d rather fix it than defend it.
What it isn’t#
Nothing here is the view of my employer, past or present. It isn’t professional advice either. Your organisation, your risk appetite and your regulator will know things I don’t.
I name vendors and products when it helps the argument, including ones my employer sells and ones it competes with. Nobody pays me to write about them, and I don’t run sponsored content. If a post touches something I work on professionally, I’ll say so in that post.
Who is Adele?#
Adele Vance shows up in many scenarios here. She’s fictional, borrowed from Microsoft’s demo tenants, and over the years she has suffered more broken updates and failed migrations than any real person should. Any resemblance to your colleagues is a coincidence, mostly.
